SUMMARY:Somatic Moment\, Instructor Varies - Public
DESCRIPTION:Second Monday of the Month\, 4–5pm PST \nHosted by a local somatic healer; a time for folks to participate in a rejuvenating space. \n \nSeptember 2024 – January 2025: “Somatic Seasonal Aliveness Development” with Babatunde “Zubbi” Azubuike (BAH-BAH-TOON-DAY\, ZUH-BEE\, AZU-BOO-KAY). This 4-part series utilizes politicized somatics\, meditation\, visualization\, indigenous wisdom and storytelling. Each session focuses on the lessons and learnings available to us in each season. The presenter draws from the centuries-old wisdom that the natural world can offer as we fight for a more just world. Participants will journey together in exploring the rhythm of the elements and their blueprint for liberation. The order of seasons was curated to hold space for warmth during the seasonal darkness and isolation the end of the year can bring here in the Pacific Northwest. Attend as many sessions as you like.

SUMMARY:Somatic Moment 2025 - Public
DESCRIPTION:February – June 2025: Foundations of Trauma Informed Embodiment explores the building blocks of how we\, as mammals\, sense and engage with our environment in a body-based way. Using low impact somatics\, we traverse the regulatory sequence of presencing and sensing\, orienting to our environment\, mobilizing for and taking action\, making connection with the environment and discharging the energy we’ve mobilized. When we encode experiences as trauma\, we develop patterns of rigidity and chaos along this continuum of embodiment. These stages underlie how we regulate our emotions\, thoughts\, moods and social interactions and map our responses to stress and trauma triggers. \nJoin T. Aisha Edwards\, LMHC\, somatic trauma therapist and founder of Radical Rest\, in this monthly practice call to repattern our reflexive habits in the way we move through our embodied world. Together\, we’ll cultivate increased bodily awareness\, empowerment and a felt sense of calm. \nMonday\, February 10\, 2025\, 4-5pm PT\nMonday\, March 10\, 2025\, 4-5pm PT\nMonday\, April 14\, 2025\, 4-5pm PT\nMonday\, May 12\, 2025\, 4-5pm PT\nMonday\, June 9\, 2025\, 4-5pm PT \nThis series will follow the videos developed in partnership with Radical Rest. \nSomatic Moment Handbook \nThere are currently no Somatic Moment events available for registration.
