  • A Community Forum is happening in Douglas County October 2, 2018. We will be providing a no-cost training in the morning, lunch, and a community discussion on current efforts and needs in the region. Come to the morning session or afternoon session or both. Please share the invite.
  • FosterClub All Stars, Oregon Trauma Advocates Coalition (OTAC) and Oregon Foster Youth Connection worked together to develop a youth led TIC Workshop which was piloted at this years Oregon Teen Conference. The 2018 Oregon Teen Conference provided foster youth across Oregon the opportunity to engage in various interactive and informative wellness workshops and activities sponsored by FosterClub. Coming soon will be materials and more information for how this came to be.
  • Beckie Child piloted Supporting Each Other and Ourselves: Trauma Informed Strategies and Tools for Peer Support Specialists, Peer Wellness Specialists, and Recovery Mentors. The content focused on strategies that are helpful for those served but also for peer providers doing this critical work. It was a great turnout with 50+ folks and the feedback was positive and helpful. We hope to have this available on the website soon.
  • We completed our first listening sessions focused on how to de-center whiteness in the TIC movement with a group of inspiring and informative African American women. Stay tuned for opportunities to be involved in future sessions.
  • Stephanie Sundborg attended Maternal Child Health Bureau Measurement Research Network meeting in Washington, D.C. to talk about possible measures for TIC.

Where We’ve Been

It was great to have a table at the Latino Health Equity Conference that focused on Latino Perspectives on Emotional Health (www.familiasenaccion.org)

TIO took an epic road trip in June to complete two of our four yearly forums. I started in Medford where I met with Peter Buckley and heard about the great things Southern Oregon Success is doing–check out what they are tracking. Next I went to Lakeview. We spent the day presenting about TIC and hearing about needs and efforts in the area. What a fabulous group of folks (and lunch) and a beautiful drive. I left Lakeview and headed north on 395–an awesome scenic drive–to end in Enterprise. Here we got to spend a day presenting information on TIC and hearing about the work in the area–so much great stuff going on across Oregon. We have also been to King County, WA, Montana, and Gresham, OR sharing and learning about TIC.
