Trauma Informed Practices in Japan

Yuuka Ooka, an Associate Professor at Mukogawa Women’s University is visiting Trauma Informed Oregon for a few months studying TIC. Yuuka will show the social situation which is related to trauma and stress in Japan and introduce ways supports are provided using a trauma informed lens in Japan. Yuuka will share video and experiences in Japan, and participants will consider differences and similarities to TIC in the United States.

Foundations of Trauma Informed Care

In our Foundations of Trauma Informed Care Series, we cover a variety of topics that help participants build a strong foundational understanding of trauma informed care/practice. Discussion prompts and breakout sessions are built in, with participation highly encouraged. Participants are expected to attend all four events.

Anti-Racism Practitioner Guide and Workshop for Behavioral Healthcare Settings

This two-part webinar series introduces the Anti-Racism Practitioner’s Guide, developed to drive systemic change in Oregon’s behavioral healthcare settings. This comprehensive guide provides actionable steps to combat racism and support practitioners of color and diverse cultures, featuring sample policies, procedures, and practical action items. Participants are expected to attend both events.

Minor Consent to Treatment in Oregon

Seeking clarity regarding a youth’s ability to consent to treatment in Oregon? In this session we will hear from Chelsea Holcomb, Director of Child & Family Behavioral Health at OHA, about conditions across the state and the need for the recent OHA memo on consent. We will map out the related policies and what they mean for providing and accessing treatment, with help from Paul Cooney, an attorney specializing in Oregon law and impact on mental health practice.

Somatic Moment

Every second Monday of the month a local somatic healer shares space with us to foster rejuvenation. Join T. Aisha Edwards, LMHC, somatic trauma therapist and founder of Radical Rest, in this monthly practice call to repattern our reflexive habits in the way we move through our embodied world. Together, we’ll cultivate increased bodily awareness, empowerment and a felt sense of calm.

April Training of Trainers Application

Training of Trainers

This Training of Trainers (ToT) will be held April 21-24th, 2025 and is specifically for Peer Support Specialists (PSS) in Oregon. The ToT covers the Foundations of Trauma Informed Care curriculum.

The application closes on March 17th, 2025 and invited participants will be notified within the following week. Please note our ToTs are limited to 20 people and we will be making decisions on who is accepted with location in mind. We want to ensure we have participants from all over Oregon. We are offering the seats in this ToT at no cost to participants in order to support our deliverable of elevating the voices of lived experiences in Oregon. We have dedicated resources to focus on the lived experiences of Peer Support Specialists during this contract year. We intentionally offer no or low cost training opportunities to a variety of communities with varying lived experience identities at different times.
