Welcome to Trauma Informed Oregon Talk, our e-newsletter! Learn the latest news from Trauma Informed Oregon (TIO), read essays from the TIO community, discover trauma informed activities across the state, and start using trauma informed tools and resources we have learned about or added to our website.
Note from Mandy, Director of TIO
Hello all,
We’re committing to being in touch more often, so we are sending this newsletter out every three months. Our hope is to stay connected in a more consistent way rather than trying to catch up on six months of updates all at once.
We’d also love to highlight you. If you’re interested in sharing a practice you’re loving or a trauma informed experience you’d like others to learn from, please reach out to us at tioinfo@pdx.edu. We’d be grateful to include your voice.
This edition focuses on feedback and includes a few helpful resources, as well as upcoming events and opportunities to connect.

Meetings at the TIO Round Table
We spent some time decorating and creating more comfortable communal spaces. This has increased relational time around the table doing work or just sharing a cup of tea – we are also surrounded by Oregon's TIC Vision, which was created in 2019. |

Indigenized Version of Early Childhood (ECE) Approaches to Trauma Informed Care (TIC)
Trauma Informed Oregon, with support from The Ford Family Foundation, is developing an indigenized version of Early Childhood (ECE) Approaches to Trauma Informed Care (TIC) through a focused redesign process led by Native and Indigenous educators.
With input from a 10-member advisory group, the ECE of TIC is being revised to begin with healing as the foundation, recognizing community strengths, continuity, and existing pathways of wellness before discussing adversity. Work continues, and the 8-hour training will be available in late 2026.
The "Create Resilience" Youth Art Contest
The contest is open to Oregon youth ages 13–21. Entries will be accepted May 1st thru August 1st and winners will be announced September 10th (World Suicide Prevention Day). Closed Peer Learning Groups for Implementing TIC
Trauma Informed Oregon is launching a closed peer learning group for Oregon organizations implementing TIC at an organizational level. This would be a monthly group, piloted over the course of a year, designed for TI champions within organizations with an active TI implementation plan to share experiences, problem-solve bureaucratic barriers, and collaborate with peers navigating similar power structures.
At this stage, we are simply reaching out to see who might be interested. If this group is of interest to you, please let us know by filling out this short form. We will connect with you from there.
