Steering Committee Application

Trauma Informed Oregon (TIO) is a statewide collaborative aimed at preventing and ameliorating the impact of adverse experiences on children, adults, and families. Trauma Informed Oregon works in partnership with service providers, individuals and communities with lived experience, and families to promote and sustain trauma informed policies and practices across multiple systems of care. TIO focuses its efforts in four areas including centralized resources and community building, training and education, implementation and accountability, and policy and investment.

One of our commitments this year is to restructure our Leadership team and to instead be a steering committee for the purpose of giving input and advice to TIO about what is needed in communities and identities represented by steering committee members. Our goal is to have representation from multiple systems, agencies, identities, and regions across the state.

Individuals who are living and working in Oregon, and are interested in applying for Trauma Informed Oregon’s steering committee, please complete an application. We encourage everyone to apply. We anticipate 15-20 members but this number is flexible as we strive for inclusion & representation. The selection process will be reviewed by the previous Leadership Committee, OTAC, TIO staff, and other advisors. All applicants will have their application added to our waitlist, and will be notified upon an opening.

The TIO Steering Committee provides:

• An opportunity to help shape the trauma informed care work in Oregon.
• An opportunity to connect and collaborate with others doing this work.
• An opportunity to give voice to the strengths and needs of your community/ies.

• Presently we are accepting for the waitlist only. Applicants will be notified of their application status when an opening becomes available.
• Meetings will be held quarterly (every three months) for two hours by Zoom.

Committee Members Will:

• Orient to the work and history of TIO (this will be provided by TIO staff)
• Attend meetings or send a delegate
• Be prepared to discuss the following topics:
  • Status and input on TIO’s goals
  • What is happening and needed in your represented community/ies
  • Ideas and innovations for Oregon’s TIC work
• Share about TIO’s work and collect input from your communities
• Share content knowledge or direct experience regarding trauma informed care/trauma informed approaches
• Have relationships and methods to advise on what a community (e.g., region, identity specific), sector (e.g., justice, behavioral health, natural resources, nonprofit), system (e.g., education, early learning, judicial), or organization needs
• Show a commitment to apply a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion to this work

• The position is a minimum one-year term commitment.
• The committee will meet quarterly using Zoom video/voice platform (accommodations available when needed).
• Meetings will be held on Tuesday mornings from 10am-12pm pacific time.
• Members who are Youth/Young adults will be paid a stipend of $50 per two hour meeting. Youth hours spent on this committee may be used to meet high school graduation requirements for volunteer hours.
• For those not otherwise supported to attend (e.g., employer) a $50 stipend will be provided for your time.
